So what is the deal here?

  • You apply for asylum
  • That gets denied
  • You can’t be deported into your home country for some reason
  • You then are being transferred into some detention center in another country outside of the EU

And what happens there? Do you simply stay there forever? Is it the expectation that you return to your country of origin on your own? Does the EU expect that you break out of that “return hub” and try to seek asylum in another Non-EU-state?

  • First of all you aren’t in the EU anymore.

The EU doesn’t really care what happens next I guess. They don’t care about the lives of refugees, especially Alexander Dobrindt (for it was his idea) doesn’t.

What other country detention center? The article only talks about detention while they’re preparing to kick you out of the EU.

Ok, the linked article was super vague about what they’re doing, but it seemed like you’re supposed to be held there until the “final deportation”. So it’s pretty much the same as the old system, except with some extra travel and chance for things to go wrong.

“Return hubs” sounds so nice!
Like an airport lounge area where they can enjoy some coffee and snacks before a friendly flight attendent welcomes them on the flight to their country, where they can’t wait to finally arrive back home.
