okay question: do people making eddsworld stuff today know these characters are all real people and that edd died of leukemia in 2012? because every time i see these âmodernâ ones i get the ick.
Yeahhhh or that tord doesnât want to be involved with the series anymore. On one hand, edd wanted the series to continue after his passing, so Iâm grateful fans are still engaging with it, and Matt is keeping it going, but on the other hand it feels weird that weâre still making stories with someone whoâs been dead for 14 years. Plus Tom is no longer involved, and makes me feel off that his own character, based on him, is no longer voiced, written, or has any involvement with him.
Iâm still grateful Matt is keeping it alive, but itâs sad to see it devolve to a shell of its former self, with the majority of the original crew, writers and animators gone.
itâs mostly the fanworks iâm weirded out by honestly, since the friends and family are kinda carrying out his will
Itâs sort of how the sausage gets made brother. People find stories and characters they love and then, like a five year-old playing with toys, they imagine those characters in different situations. Same with art, many people start out learning how to make lines by tracing art they love.
Of course, before the Internet all this âshamefully amateurishâ stuff was in the rubbish bin, but once you know what it is, future artist taking their first steps, you kind of learn to love it.
itâs less âshamefully amateurishâ to me and more âmacabreâ to ascribe fake personality traits to real people, one of who is relatively recently deceased, and post it under the name of the show those people did so they can all see their dead friend being puppeted around.

Maybe itâs because we live in era where Drake can shove a hand up a digitally recreated Tupacâs ass, but Iâm just not seeing it. But Iâm just a random Internet stranger with an opinion YMMV

I had no idea what any of this was, so I had to look it up. Apparently Matt is no longer with the project as of a few days ago.
Oh my god literally a day ago. No idea about it. Curious to see if they try to keep going, especially without any of the original team. Itâs been over 23 years since it started, I feel like most of the audience has just grown up out of it to keep the same humour and style going. I still check in from time to time cause I loved it, I plan to binge the eddsworld beyond eddisodes, but the gags donât hit like they used to, and canât relate to it as much either.
Why doesnât Tord want to be involved?
From what I remember he wanted to do other things, and in part move on with his life. I think the response from some of the fans drifted him further. Been years since I read up on it though

what the fuck is eddsworld I assumed this was like the comic authors personal characters
edd gould was a cartoonist who drew animated skits about him and his friends from 2005 to 2012 on the youtube channel eddsworld. they were very popular, he got spots on british tv from it. he died in 2012 at 23 years old.
the guy in the blue shirt is thomas ridgewell, aka tomska, who still does youtube stuff today. he got big because of edd.
the guy in purple is matt hargreaves,
who runs the eddsworld youtube channel todaytogether with eddâs next of kin. edd wanted the channel to continue after he was gone. (Edit apparently heâs no longer involved)the guy in the red shirt is tord, a norwegian that edd became friends with online. i dont know much about him.
