You have to wade past a ton shit you’d never purposely look at, get side tracked along the way, and still never see everything you originally set out to see. It’s a never ending loot box for content.

Does anyone else feel like the more they learn about fucked up history and current events the more we have to worry about? The older I get, and as I learn about history, the more things I have to think about that keep me up at night. Maybe ignorance is bliss after all?

I just want to be clear: I don’t watch WWE, and I have zero insight to back this up. This just popped into my head and sounded strangely salient. This is probably stupid as fuck to anyone who knows WWE, and I’m okay with that; roast the shit out of me.

It’s hard to put this into words succinctly. But when I was a kid before the Internet, the library was the main source of human knowledge, and it was very organized through the Dewey Decimal System which imposed a kind of tree-like hierarchy across a wide spectrum of topics. And while I imagined that one day this might all wind up served by computers, I thought this organization would survive the transition. But it didn’t.

I was watching This Is England from 2006, and it reminded me of the olden days of yore, in the fabled before-times, where people would just bunch up together every Friday in someone’s flat, get drunk, blast music, and talk without distractions.

Sure, it’s not a physical space, but getting on voice with the gang serves a very similar social purpose compared to hanging out in a mall or at a park. Not gonna say it’s the best third space, just saying it is one.

I think it will simply become impossible to keep digital payment systems secure. The whole online economy will collapse. Amazon will become worthless. People will actually have to go out to local stores to buy everything. People will have to go to their local bank or currency exchange to cash their paychecks. The credit card system will fail completely too, while payday loans will take their place. The stock market will have to go back to traders yelling their trades to each other at exchanges. Before I started watching Star Trek, I had heard about it on the Big Bang Theory. The way it was talked about, I was expecting a franchise with very airtight and complex lore. In reality, it’s kind of a muddled mess. And really, it’s better the creators don’t worry too much about continuity, why let continuity get in the way of a good story? It doesn’t make sense that half the cast of the original series had encountered Trelane before but in the end, does it really matter?

I started watching Dark Matter and the professor is there explaining Schrodinger’s Cat to a college class like no one ever watched The Big Bang Theory or Steins;Gate or Dark or played Portal or ever heard that reference from dozens of pop culture sources before, because every major franchise in the last 10 years decided to go “Multiverse” and shit, so it’s everywhere, and shows trying to show how into science they are, like so nerd and you are getting so smart and hearing about these so obscure theories that makes you so big brain, they make a section just to tell you about Schrodinger’s Cat.

“Good morning” is a term of welcome. “Good Night,” when said at night, is a term of leaving. You’d never say “good night” to someone who shows up at 11 pm for a party. AI companies can make any information on the internet dissappear by generating millions of websites with related, but with AI-slop, content. AI slop is a big smoke screen.

The raw pleasure of a simple text based interface is not enough acknowledged. Text, coloured and structured is such a clear and powerful read, I believe AI is demonstrating the superiority of prompt based gui.

I guess the same could be said for a coat, or clothes even, but there’s something very blanket-like about wrapping a robe around yourself to hang on to the warmth and comfort when getting out of bed on a chilly morning.

I was commenting on a post just now, and I needed to find a source for it where I had to pick through websites I didn’t recognize. Eventually I found something affiliated with BBC science, which may have its own issues but it’s a whole lot more reputable than the slop. However, if I was a younger user or new to a topic, I wouldn’t have known to use that source.

I have truly noticed a change in how I am engaging with content nowadays, I have become more reluctant on clicking on links to articles or videos that have been made in these last few years, and when I do I started by looking for clues if it has been generated by ai. if the voice is human or generated, if the pictures are of real events or slop. I mistrust everything. and it’s exhausting. earlier slop was easier to detect nowadays it’s becoming impossible.

Coincidentally, many people who want a holy war are morons on oxy. But that’s neither here nor there!
