Would someone kindly ELI5 this for me?

from what i understand, they found that lymphatic vessels has tiny amounts muscles in them that contracts and expands in a timely manner to move the lymph (the liquid inside lymph nodes) and other stuff and these movements are triggered by the action potentials of some elements (like calcium ions).

To those who red and fully understood this stuff, feel free to advise me.
